On the outskirts we find Markman Township (Ind 3) right next to the new and well publicised Coega deep water harbour, and  facing inland, we cover Uitenhage, Perseverance, and the newly developed Greenbushes industrial area. 

 

Custom Bonded Warehouse
A Customs and Excise Warehouse, commonly known as a Bonded Warehouse, is a warehouse where imported goods may be stored for a specified period without the payment of duty or taxes. i.e. the goods are physically in the country but not yet imported into the country in terms of customs, as such the warehouse is a 'Duty Free Zone'.

Industrial Development Zone [IDZ]

Similarly, an IDZ or Export Processing Zone (EPZ), is a purpose-built, industrial estate linked to an international airport or port, which contains a controlled Customs Controlled Area (CCA). A CCA is exempt from duties, VAT and import duty on machinery and assets.

South Africa currently has three highly successful IDZ's strategically positioned at Coega, Richard's Bay, and East London.
